She was the Mommie in Mommie Dearest. Beat up her adopted daughter with hangers, according to said adopted daughter.

I think she was a good actress. Trying to delve the recesses here, I believe she was quite the diva from what I've heard, though could be kind. Of course, the beating of the child with wire hangers is pretty well known. I was sad to see that movie, actually, because she was one of my favorite classic actresses before.
